Up early for sunrise in the canyon. Carol and Annie were very impressed with their first glimpse of the canyon. Annie was a bit weepy for joy as it is a very breathtaking sight. Unfortunately there was a cloud bank on the horizon so the sunrise was a bit obscured. It turned out to be very pretty as the clouds started turning colors as the sky brightened. It was very cold and we were all wishing we had gloves and hats. We drove on to Bright Angel Lodge for breakfast and got a seat that kind of looked out on the Canyon. It was a wonderful breakfast. Carol's sinuses were acting up so we tried to find her an antihistamine. She took some of my Coricidin and that seemed to help. In the afternoon we went to Hermit's Rest on the Park bus as there are no cars allowed on that end of the park. There were 8 stops on the way out there and we stopped at several of them, but not all. We could get on and off whenever we wanted and Jerry and I walked at one point from one lookout to the next. We caught up with Carol and Annie there. Each lookout was a new perspective on the Canyon. When we got to Hermit's Rest, I got an ice cream and then we boarded the bus for the return trip. We got back and drove into Tusayan - again to try and find an antihistamine for Carol. Found some Benadryl for her to take at night. She did not sleep well the first nite. In fact she began feeling really bad and Jerry called and cancelled the helicopter flite for tomorrow for them.

We went to Yavapai Lookout and it was really nice as there is a very nice visitor/information center there with a view of the canyon. Decided that we would do the sunset thing there. Carol started feeling really bad with upset stomach, etc. Went to visitor center and Jerry got out to go get our NP stamp for Grand Canyon. Carol needed bathroom again so I drove her back to Yavapai. Got Jerry and then we took her back to the room. Annie, Jerry and I went back to Yavapai for sunset and that was awesome! Watching the shadows move up the walls of the canyon was just great. I hate that Carol is feeling bad and was unable to be with us for the sunset. As usual I took lots of pictures, but I think it was worth it. Back to the room and downloaded pix, charged batteries and to bed.

NOTE: This blog is probably going to have more pictures than text so you will have to match up the dates of the pix w/ the text of the blog. (What else is new? Sorry... :))))!!!
